Finally, a research study that makes sense. Bulimia is linked to a hormone imbalance. There are lots of theories about the condition of overeating or binge eating. It all happens this way: you feel stressed, numb and depressed and you go get a snack in the kitchen. You eat and still feel empty, and eat again. It goes on and on daily.

You then look at yourself in a mirror and hate what you see. You then get to try drastic measure to lose weight. You actually get even more depressed by the weight that you start taking laxatives, self induce vomiting, getting on an obsessive exercise routine, etc. You probably even get to be anorexic from trying to lose the weight. Your loved one refers you to the doctor and you are further referred to the psychologist as yours is a mental behaviour.

Whilst this is linked to a mental behaviour, it could be more a complex medical one too. Your male sex hormone testosterone could be in higher levels than your female sex hormone oestrogen. This disturbs your metabolic rate and induces an eating disorder. Most female who suffer from this also have PCOS.

We have an article on hormone imbalance in children, which leads to bet-wetting. Who would have known? And another one on what I term “men menopause”; the hormone patterns in aging men. Our ebook special continues until next week, 15 April 2008. Please note that on the 16th the price will go up. http://www.healthfun-ps.com//hormonal-imbalance-solutions-book.html (Please copy-and-paste the URL into your Web browser.)

4. Health News and Tips this Week:

4.1 Egg Consumption Poses Risks for Diabetic Men

A new study suggests that consuming more than six eggs a week seems to raise the risk of dying from all causes. Diabetics seem to face an even higher mortality risk, according to the study that was limited to men.

"The more eggs diabetic men consumed, the more they increased their risk for death," said Dr. Luc Djousse, an associate epidemiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital and an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston. (SOURCES: The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition)

Our Take on this: Everything in moderation.

4.2 Health Tip: Weight Gain During Pregnancy

Women who are at a healthy body weight before pregnancy should gain between 25 pounds and 37 pounds, the American Pregnancy Association says.

It offers this additional information about weight gain during pregnancy: 1. Women who are underweight before pregnancy should gain between 28 pounds and 40 pounds. 2. Women who are overweight before pregnancy should gain between 15 pounds and 25 pounds.

3. Eat healthy meals with sufficient calories, and avoid eating fatty foods and junk food.

4. Eat a daily well-rounded diet, including three servings of milk, yogurt, and cheese; three servings of protein; three servings of fruits; four servings of vegetables; and nine servings of whole grain products.

(SOURCES: HealthDay News)

Our Take on this: Never try to lose weight whilst pregnant. However excessive weight gain is unhealthy too.
