FunHealth #067--,What is a Father? June 11, 2008 |
||
Hello,Father's Day Issue (June,11 2008)
1. Dad, how I love thee. 2. A tribute to all fathers. 3. Magazine delayed. 4. Health News this week =========================================================== “A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty.”
“My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.”
I had a rare opportunity of visiting my parents alone last weekend. I grew up being daddy’s girl, later realized that my dad is not perfect and now believe he knows better than I think. My dad taught me to read, write and count. Now that he is approaching his 70th year, I can teach him a thing or two.
My parents are staying in their empty nets alone. I was blessed by the fact that dad wakes my mom up with a cup of tea every morning. Something I never thought he could do. I realized that I actually don’t even know my dad that well. He is the best dad and the best part is that he is my dad.
Happy father’s day to all dad subscribers. If you have a father, make them feel extra special today with a special gift. You may also adopt a dad this week, just because you can. If finances are not going well, you may give a hug or a phone call. It’s a thought that counts.

Risk Factors for Prostate CancerProstate cancer is one of the most common cancers that affect men. While most cases aren't fatal, it is important to understand the risk factors for the disease to help recognize symptoms and begin treatment early. The U.S. National Cancer Institute lists these potential risk factors for prostate cancer: · Aging. · High levels of testosterone. · A high-fat diet, which may increase the risk. (A low-fat diet rich in fruits and vegetables may help the risk.) · Blacks are at much greater risk of prostate cancer, whites are at intermediate risk, and Japanese have the lowest average risk. Sleep Apnea Linked to Memory LossPeople with sleep apnea show tissue loss in brain regions that help store memory, a University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) study shows. "Our findings demonstrate that impaired breathing during sleep can lead to serious brain injury that disrupts memory and thinking," principal investigator Ronald Harper, a professor of neurobiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, said in a prepared statement. People with sleep apnea stop breathing and awaken repeatedly during the night, leading to chronic daytime fatigue and memory and concentration problems. Research has linked sleep apnea to an increased risk of stroke, heart disease and diabetes. (SOURCES: University of California, Los Angeles)
