Career Change Excuses
I am reminded of the career change excuses I had for years in my own life. Some are very silly excuses actually. Most of us get to have a fear of change when it comes to our careers
. We are also subject to sticking to what we are familiar with because of loyalties and even being in the comfort zone.
5. No Qualifications.
If you have a passion but no qualifications just work at that. The day I saw a granny who just qualified as a doctor, I felt all my career change excuses
were invalid. Anyone can start a new career at any stage in their life. If you want anything and work hard enough, it is yours.
6. No one is Interested.
You probably know your passion, tried to apply for jobs and never got any job. Your current approach is clearly not working. Try a different approach. Get a mentor to work with and set clear goals. Sometimes you need to start at a lower level than what you think you are worth, just to get your foot in your industry of choice. It will be easier to go up the ladder when you are inside.
7. Hate Relocating.
Most often, you may have to relocate to follow your career passions. For a career change to work, one has to make some sacrifices along the way. Relocating is quite stressful but we all have to do it at some point in our lives.

8. Just got a Promotion.
Being loyal is a very wonderful gesture for any employee. You may have been treated very well by your employer and feel you owe them a lot. However think about what you want for a second. If it’s not your current job, get a new career just for your own sake. Be careful as you quit because you also need to be sensitive to your employer.

1. Resistance to Change.
Change can be intimidating. Most of us have a fear of starting in a new job or a new career in general. Starting a business can be very scary and should be. However growth comes from taking risks and moving on with your life. Always take calculated risks but give a change a chance.
2. Comfort Zone.
You may think you love the kind of work you are doing when it is actually all you are familiar with. Keep an open mind and search for growth in your life. If you have done one job for a decade, you may be in a position to want a new challenge. This is not the case if you are a specialist of some sort. Get out of your comfort zone and seek opportunities that will work towards your bigger plan.
3. Finances.
I have personally used my kids and family as an excuse to stick with a frustrating work environment. You have to weigh your options. Would you rather die of depression whilst you are trying to make ends meet financially? Sometimes holding on to a job that is not fulfilling is not worth your life. Just keep trying to get an alternative. If you are planning to start your own business, work hard enough at it, quit your job at the right time and you will succeed. Finances can be the most common of career change excuses.
4. Struggling to Find your Passion.
It happens a lot. Some people have difficulty identifying their passion. You may be having a passion that you don’t think can make a career. Thanks to broadening scope of services offered, anyone can offer a service. If you like clean spaces go on start a cleaning company. Anything you can think of is a product or service someone is dying to buy. Have you ever thought of having a website to write on your specific passion for instance. I have and I love doing so.
