Communication in Parenting

Communication in parenting is an act of love. To know and care for someone enough you need to keep the lines wide open. Parent-Child-Communication tends to be a one-sided act in most cases. Most parents often utter the commands: “do this; don’t do it that way; listen to me!” The Child Connection: Simple Parenting Solutions

Sometimes all you need to do is listen. Being a good parent requires a lot of listening skills. Let your kids express themselves and their views to you. Encourage them by asking open-ended questions: “how was school; what did teacher say; what do you want to eat today; when do you want us to have that important conversation.”

We build trust by listening to our kids and letting them know we are there when they have something to say. No better tool builds trust better than talking. In your parenting basket, let it be amongst the first you pick. Be an approachable parent at all times.

Communication in parenting is key, with all your kids. Let your kids here you say; “what do you think?” “I’d love to hear your views” and “thank you for sharing this with me”. The truth is: if you fail to have a conversation with your kids, they will get the influence (negative or positive) from somewhere else. Would you be comfortable with that?
