Don't Allow your Dreams to Die

This story reflects the ordeal that Hagar had to face. She gave birth to Ishmael through the arrangement made by Sarah (her mistress) since Sarah was barren. However, things changed when Sarah got her own son through God. Hagar was requested to leave the house to avoid continuous strife that was brewing with her mistress. She was given some food and a skin of water. She found herself wondering in the desert until the little food and water that she had got finished. The situation got so desperate that she decided to give up the boy’s life. In other words, she had decided that under the circumstances, there was nothing she could do to save the boy’s life. This was a painful experience such that she put him a distance away and started crying. She expected the boy to die. But God showed up at the right time and opened her eyes to see a well of water that saved the boy’s life.

Maybe like Hagar, you have a dream that is about to die. Or a situation that has gone beyond your ability to solve or settle. You have done everything that you could do in your power to change the situation and it could not change. Before you give up on that dream or on resolving the situation. Don’t put the situation away like Hagar, expecting it to die a natural death. You see, it appears in the scriptures that Hagar did not know about prayer. She just sat there crying. For Christians, this is not supposed to be like that. We are supposed to pray to God to open our eyes and give us wisdom to handle the situation. Jesus says in John 14: 6; I am the way and the truth and the life. Cry out to the Lord in prayer, He will show you the way. He will open your eyesight just like he did with Hagar. We must pray and expect the Lord to fight our battle and make provision to our needs. Don’t give up now. God is watching and will answer your prayers. His hand is not far to deliver or his ear too far to hear (listen). God bless you.
