Make sure you have fun at school because you spend too many hours there. When I started school, I was in the most unfriendly environment and I hated school immediately. The bullying made it worse and my very bad Grade 1 teacher made things worse for me.
When you are a teenager, you can make school to be what you want it to be. The following suggestions will help you to create that fun environment.
1. Report Bullying
You may be thinking, the bullying period will pass. Believe me, it takes longer and often doesn’t just pass on its own. The sad part is that the most bullied kids are the best behaved. Tell your parents about it instead of hoping it will naturally come to an end.
2. Make Meaningful Friendships
Networking skills start at school. Talk to people and learn from them. Be careful on how you choose friends. The saying “bad company spoils good character” sums it up for me. Stick to friends who share the same principles as you. Friendships are a great way to have fun at school.
3. Report Sexual Harassment
It happens to the best of kids. Sexual harassment can be what someone said to you, how they touched you and not only about the sexual intercourse. A perpetrator could be the teacher or another senior student. Never keep it to yourself, inform an adult. If left unreported, sexual harassment never ends.
4. Good Attitude
Have an “I CAN” attitude. Work hard and believe you will succeed and indeed you will succeed. Do your work with all your energy and cooperate with your teachers when they need you to. With a positive attitude, you always achieve the best. Be on the right side of the school policies.
5. Extra Mural Activities
School is not all about academic achievement. Join a sports club, school choir, etc. being actively involved in other school activities will ensure you have fun at school.
6. Volunteer
Some teens raise funds for the less advantaged kids, go to read the books for the elderly and sick in the hospice, etc. you can initiate or join a community building initiative and give back to the society for a good course. It is lots of fun.
7. Be Sensitive
There is always an isolated shy child in every class. Walk an extra mile to reach out to that one child and befriend him/ her. You will get a great reward.
