Going Home: Maputo Mozambique

May 21, 2009: Going Home

Home is actually Maputo, Mozambique. We have decided to move out of the hotel into the house tomorrow. My son a.k.a. “the Geek" has started school and they both need some form of stability and order which the hotel fails to provide. So yesterday we went to view the house. It’s furnished in ”not so nice" furniture. Hubby's employer's choice of furnishings. Its huge pieces that were bought more than a decade ago. There is enough space for me as I tend to be claustrophobic in small spaces.

The house is crying out loud for accessories. I will need to invest a tiny fortune in decorating and customizing this space for my family. I am just asking myself a number of questions. Should I or should I not… Like painting some focal wall, making a new curtain, sewing slip covers for couches, etc. Should I go with an ocean theme, chic, modern or country which I think will be easier. I will stay in this house for 4 years and that’s too long a time not too customize one’s space.

I am tempted to go with a beach theme. I have never stayed by the beach, so I may as well make good use of that. Turning a house around is always exciting. The cost factor is always thought of last. In my case, that is…

Peace,
