Happy 70^th Birthday Dad

I woke my dad up with a call today. He is turning 70 today. It is wonderful to have my dad so strong and healthy at 70. He never gets sick or weak. I somehow think that their clay was tougher, and ours has a little too much water. I realize a number of my facebook friends also share the birthday with daddy or know someone who does. It looks like June is a baby month.

I’m very excited that he is reaching this milestone in his life. At the same time I’m sad that I am not home to hand him a gift. When you are far from home, it always feels like being in your home country would make a difference. But honestly, I haven’t spent my dad’s birthday at home in more than a decade. I am never home at this time of the year. And my home was miles away from my folks’. So I have to find comfort in the fact that, I would still not be there for my dad’s birthday. He knows that he is so loved by me though. But unlike when I was young and naïve, I know daddy is not perfect.
