Some Leadership Principles from the Bible

Christians can get leadership inspiration and leadership principles from the bible.
"And I charged your judges at that time: Hear the disputes between your brothers and judge fairly, whether the case is between brother Israelites or between one of them and an alien. Do not show partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of any man, for judgment belongs to God. Bring me any case too hard for you, and I will hear it. "
Deuteronomy 1: 16-17

This instruction or command from Moses to the leaders of Israel reveals interesting principles about leadership. What this passage reveals is that true leaders should make fair judgment of all cases presented before them irrespective of the position, nationality or even status of the parities involved. In other words, whether you are judging between two people of the same status or between people of different status, your focus should be the case and its outcome and not the status of the people involved.

The second important principle that is revealed is that leaders should be able to intervene when their subordinates with delegated authority are struggling or experiencing difficulties. In other words great leaders would not leave difficult situations weighing on their subordinates’ shoulders. Moses lived this example. He told the Israelites leaders this, “Bring me any case too hard for you, and I will hear it.” This was an indication that he was with them in the task and not just expecting them to provide all the solutions without his involvement. Leaders should therefore be able to assist their subordinates to resolve difficult tasks or exercises. A true leader is therefore seen by his ability to remove stumbling blocks from the way of his/ her subordinates and successfully resolving conflicts between subordinates. One may get a lot more leadership principles from the bible.
