Being Devoted to Prayer
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Colossians 4: 2
I had a privilege to spend time with a few people who are used by God in different ways a while ago. Being used by God as Jesus said when he said the Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, to heal the broken hearted… In fact if you can ask any of the top preachers about a day in their lives, what you are going to see common in most of them is the time they take in prayer.
The scripture above is about being devoted. When it comes to prayer, God expects us to be devoted to prayer. What I have found useful is being consistent and set aside a specific time to pray everyday.
As we pray we need to expect and be watchful for God’s leadership. We must be attentive to him. As we talk to Him, He wants to talk back to us. He wants to lead us.
Lastly, when we go to God we must go with thanksgiving. Prayer is not a platform for complaining but rather it is a place to tell the LORD what he has promised and in line with that make our requests known to him. This must be accompanied by thanking Him for granting us our requests even before we see them with our eyes.
