Our Prosperity Comes From God
But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6: 33
There was a lot of talk at some point about prosperity and Christianity. Whether Christians are supposed to be poor or rich. There seems to be an agreement now that wealth and serving the LORD are not two mutually exclusive things. For those who are not sure yet, look at the scripture above. Jesus is teaching us that we are not to worry about what we will ware or eat but we must seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will follow you. God wants to give us all these things. That can’t be a definition of poverty. God wants us to have all these things.
He does not want this to come at the expense of the Kingdom. I don’t want prosperity that will come because I got out of my way and even out of the will of God to get it. I want it to come because I put the Kingdom first. The appeals of wealth have lured many people to even do things that are clearly forbidden, just to get the wealth. I’m telling you today it is not worth it. That is wealth at all cost. That assumes that God can’t prosper us.
God prospers his children. Look at Psalm 23. He leads us in pastures green; He prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemy. He fills my cup with oil until my cup runs over. He gives and when it is full he keeps on giving. It is not waste it is abundance.
Jesus said: give, it shall be given back to you, good measure, shaken together, pressed down and running over shall men give unto your bosom. That is God, the God of abundance. About life He said I came that they may have life and have it more abundantly.
To make this work: make God your number one priority, give what you have (planting the seed and the seed will grow into a harvest) and believe that the principle works.
