Shake your Prison Foundations

Prayer and singing (praise and worship) is the gateway to breaking your prison foundations. You may be saying that my circumstances are so bad that I can’t find myself praying or worshiping the Lord. Maybe everything is going against you to an extent that you don’t see the reason to pray and worship. You don’t even know what to do anymore. But let me tell you that you are holding the key.

Paul and Silas knew this very well. One time Paul and Silas were put in prison for casting out an evil spirit from a slave girl. The owners were upset with this turn of events since it affected their pockets as well. Remember the spirit in the girl was able to predict the future and the owners made money through her. This caused the owners to stir up trouble that ended in Paul and Silas being whipped before they were put in prison. There in the inner cell their feet were fastened. However, the scripture says that at about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing with the other prisoners listening when a sudden earthquake which shook the prison foundations, opened all the prison gates and broke everybody’s chains took place. Did you realize that they had their feet fastened as well? In their circumstances the only thing they could do was to sing and pray. They did not get discouraged by the prison walls, the chains and guards or even their wounds.

Maybe like Paul and Silas you have circumstances that have you battered, bound or imprisoned. Maybe circumstances are so tense to an extent that it seems that in the natural there is nothing you can do about it. Turn to prayer and singing and watch God do the supernatural. It does not matter how impossible it looks. God is the creator and it is up to him how He does it. Maybe your whole family (real family, business partners, friends, congregation etc) is imprisoned just like the other prisoners in Paul and Silas’ case. I would like to tell you that your prayers are able to free you and everyone else. So what are you waiting for? Start singing that song you like the most and get to prayer. The ‘earthquake’ (breakthrough) is around the corner.
