And These Signs Shall Follow Them That Believe…
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Mar 16:17 -18
Jesus made this statement just after he was raised from the dead. Before verse 16, He had just told them to go to the whole world and preach the gospel. This is what is referred to as the ‘Great Commission’. This explains why Christians are all out to get more people into the Kingdom (at least we are expected to). The consequence of ignoring the Gospel is huge. God does not want anyone to partake in that because that is meant for the Devil (more on this in the coming weeks).
He then continues to list the types of miracles that should follow those who believe: in my name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues… This is meant to happen to those who believe. Those who believe in Jesus. I can tell you that this is not referring to the gift of faith as taught by Paul in First Corinthians. This is just believing.
Miracles are for now and are for every believer. Don’t get satisfied with just moving from crisis to crisis, you are destined to move from victory to victory and from glory to glory, praise the Lord!
All these miracles are done to reach the unsaved. This is the number one priority. Your victory is won, you have it, it is not an issue any more. But there are people out there who do not know the Lord. God wants to shine on you so much that people will want to have what you have.
If this is not happening in your life, don’t despair. Continue to believe, spend time with Him and you will begin to know Him better. And when you do (know Him) nothing shall stand before you.
