Sleep and Weight Loss
Enough sleep and weight loss go together. Music to my ears actually. Recent studies have proved that lack of sleep is bad for your brain and your body. I guess some of us were waiting to get these reports to start taking our sleeping patterns seriously.
Besides the other serious causes of lack of sleep like diabetes, weight gain has been identified to be another serious cause. I actually understand the reason for this perfectly:
1. Who crunching on left-overs after the bed time?………the person who is awake.
2. Who is not getting enough rest for his/muscles to build and recover after workout?.......the ones awake.
3. Who is watching a late night movie with a big bowl of popcorns?........the ones awake.
4. Who does not have the energy for a workout in the mornings?........those who didn’t get enough rest.
5. Who is sleepy the whole day and cannot even lift a finger?........you know, its getting easier.
As if the justification is not enough, scientists proved that sleep and lack thereof is directly linked to the weight of an individual.
Cortisol is a hormone which controls appetite is affected by sleep loss. This causes one to still feel hungry despite adequate amount of food being eaten. Secondly, the lack of sleep messes up with one’s metabolism. We can all sleep our weight away. The average healthy sleep hours are estimated to be 7.5. Aim for eight every night. And yes you can get that much and be very productive the next day.
Enough sleep will not only make you lose weight but is healthy for your skin and hair too. Is that not good news enough to know that sleep and weight loss go so well together.
