You are an asset to God

Remember, you are an asset to God. He has invested in your life and will see you through all obstacles.

"I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock. All the nations will gather against it to try to move it but they will only hurt themselves. “On that day”, says the Lord, “I will cause every horse to panic and every rider to lose his nerve. I will watch over the people of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of their enemies. "
Zechariah 12: 2-4

Jerusalem was an important city for the Lord. He had chosen it as a place of worship. That is where all the people of Israel would go and worship. After allowing Israel to go to exile because of their disobedience, God restored Jerusalem. At that stage he promised that he will watch over it always and protect it from being besieged again. In other words God was saying that he would not allow further attacks on Jerusalem. Even if attacks came they would no longer succeed. He promised that whoever attacks Jerusalem will just hurt themselves.

This is the same commitment that God is having on every believer today. Remember, when Jesus came, he indicated that there will no longer be a need for people to go to Jerusalem to worship the Lord. People can worship God from wherever they are. As Christians we are the temple of God. We are his place of worship. He dwells in us. We should therefore be assured that he will protect us from whatever attack that comes against us. Attacks will surely come. But we are guaranteed victory. I like the fact that the scripture says, “All the nations will gather against it to try to move it but they will only hurt themselves. In other words, we are not immune from attacks. However, God says that those attacks will amount to naught. They won’t harm you. Instead, those who attack you will just hurt themselves.

How this will happen is up to God. Because He says that is what will happen, that is what we should believe. The scriptures confirm to us that we are more than conquerors. We should therefore face challenges with confidence in the Lord. Knowing that our adversaries will get so drunk and confused when they try to harm us.
